title

Resolution authorizing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to amend an existing agreement with Donohue & Associates for engineering services related to developing a standby power master plan for all city buildings in an amount not to exceed $15,000

body

Whereas, the City has an existing agreement with Donohue and Associates for engineering services for the design and installation of an emergency generator system at City Hall in the amount of $17,760; and,

Whereas, during the course of the work it became apparent that emergency generating systems at other City buildings may be deficient due to age and/or other factors; and,

Whereas, the Engineering Division requested an amendment from Donohue to develop a standby power master plan that would include the Health Department and Fire Stations 1, 2 & 3, the Police Headquarters and Water Division; and,

Whereas, utilizing this master plan will allow the Department of Public Works to prioritize and properly schedule any repair or replacement work instead of dealing with breakdowns on an emergency basis and thereby increasing costs.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that up to $15,000 is hereby approved for Donohue & Associates to perform the study which will be forwarded to the Board of Public Works and the Common Council after completion.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer be and is hereby authorized to enter into an amended agreement for engineering services with Donohue and Associates with $100,000 transferred from the Contingency Fund to the Capital Improvement Fund Account Number 350-6003-517.31-01 and other appropriate accounts as was budgeted for under the 2015 City Budget.
