Resolution to sponsor a parade organized by Alderman Tracy Stefanski along W. Greenfield Ave. and S. 70 St. on July 4, 2020

 

Body

Whereas, the United States of America will be celebrating 244 years of independence as of July 4, 2020; and

 

Whereas, the City of West Allis has had a long standing tradition of having a 4th of July parade and the tradition should continue in some type of format; and

 

Whereas, the City supports the message and purpose of this event;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the events committee is discharged from its normal duties related to reviewing this event;

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the city shall sponsor the parade organized by Alderman Tracy Stefanski scheduled to take place between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on July 4, 2020, under the terms and conditions below:

                     The parade route shall start at S. 77 St. and West Greenfield Avenue, then proceed east on West Greenfield Avenue to S. 70 St., then south on S. 70 St. to the end of the route at Veteran's Park on West National Avenue.

                     The parade participants shall only comprise of motor vehicles.  There shall be no floats or persons walking the parade route.

                     The city shall provide equipment, materials, and/or personnel necessary to close side streets along the parade route and direct traffic as needed around the parade route at no cost.

                     The organizers shall stage the groups and start them at the appropriate times for deployment of each group.

                     Viewing of the event shall be open to the public without an admittance fee.  Spectators are encouraged to practice social distancing.

                     The city communications department must approve of any promotional materials for the event prior to distribution.

 

Recommendation

Original Motion on June 16, 2020: A motion was made by Ald. Reinke that this matter be Adopted.
