Resolution to declare an emergency existing in the City due to the COVID-19 Pandemic

WHEREAS, an emergency, namely the COVID-19 Pandemic, impacted the City of West Allis beginning on March 14, 2020; and
WHEREAS because of such emergency conditions, the common council was unable to meet with promptness; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Wis. Stat. s. 323.14(4)(b), as chief executive officer of the City of West Allis, Mayor Devine proclaimed a state of emergency in effect from March 14, 2020 until May 15, 2020; and
WHEREAS, that proclamation is subject to ratification, alteration, modification, or repeal by the common council as soon as the council can meet;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to Wis. Stat. s. 323.11, the common council of City of West Allis declares an emergency existing within the city as the result of an imminent threat of a disaster due to potential disruptions to transportation, food or fuel supplies, medical care, fire, health or police protection, or other critical systems. The period of the emergency shall be limited to this date until May 15, 2020.
