Body
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis, through its Police Department (WAPD), partners with the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District, a governmental unit (WAWMSD), to provide a single School Liaison Officer to each of the High Schools and Frank Lloyd Wright Middle School.

WHEREAS, Lane Intermediate School does not currently have a single School Liaison Officer assigned, rather, a pool of officers rotate spending time at Lane Intermediate for a total of 12 hours per week.

WHEREAS, the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District has requested that the City provide a service to West Allis-West Milwaukee School District in the form of additional police coverage at Lane Intermediate from a single officer who can provide consistency and continuity to the students and staff.

WHEREAS, the West Allis Police Department drafted a proposal to create a part time School Liaison Officer position that will work approximately 1160 hours per year and cost approximately $70,000 per year with pay and benefits.

WHEREAS, the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District has provided initial interest and preliminary approval in the proposal to pay the West Allis Police Department for the full cost for staffing the part time School Liaison Officer position at Lane Intermediate School.

WHEREAS, the West Allis Police and Fire Commission has approved the West Allis Police Department to move forward with the creation of this position.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that the approval for the creation of a part time School Liaison Officer position and the corresponding funding not to exceed $70,0...
