WHEREAS, up to $50,000 has been approved as part of the 2019 Remainder Funds for desktop computer replacements because these replacement computers will not be funded in 2020; and

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Department has reported that it has received proposals for furnishing and delivering sixty (60) HP Desktop computers with three-year extended warranty, and ten (10) Microsoft Surface Pro Tablets with accessories, and that the proposals received as shown on the attached bid report were reasonable; and

WHEREAS, the IT Department has selected the proposal from Vanguard Inc. While not the lowest proposal for the desktop computers, IT Department selected the Vanguard proposal because of the added value they offer in two-year newer processors, an extra display port, a three-year warranty that starts on deployment rather than invoice date, and having the availability of warranty repairs done locally; and

WHEREAS, these 60 desktop computers are being purchased as replacements for older computers as part of our five-year computer replacement program; and the 10 Microsoft tablets will be utilized in the Engineering Department for the purpose of increasing their productivity when working remotely on job sites; and

WHEREAS, the Common Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City of West Allis that the proposals of Vanguard Computers, Inc. and CDW-G be accepted.
