Title

Resolution approving the gifting of Canine Jax from the West Allis Police Department to Officer Jon Cerqua

Body

WHEREAS, Canine Jax began his career on February 25, 2018, and was assigned as the full time partner of Jon Cerqua; and

WHEREAS, Canine Jax and Corporal Cerqua have participated in numerous deployments over the last seven (7) years; and

WHEREAS, Canine Jax and Corporal Cerqua are a well-respected Canine team in the State of Wisconsin and have been excellent ambassadors for the West Allis Police Department and City of West Allis; and

WHEREAS, Canine Jax recently underwent surgery for ongoing pain and mobility issues with one of his legs; and

WHEREAS, Canine Jax’s doctor in conjunction with Canine Handler Cerqua and West Allis Police Department staff believe retirement is appropriate for Canine Jax; and

WHEREAS, Canine Jax will retire from police service on November 19, 2019.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that effective November, 19 2019, Canine Jax be given as a gift to Corporal Jon Cerqua with the obligation that Corporal Cerqua assumes future costs, liabilities, and responsibilities associated with Canine Jax.
