Title

Ordinance to Amend Section 2.455(1) of the City of West Allis Revised Municipal Code regarding membership on the Commission on Aging

 

Body

Now, therefore, the Common Council of the City of West Allis, Milwaukee County, do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1.                     Code Revision

 

Section 2.455(1) of the Municipal Code of the City of West Allis is hereby amended to read as follows:

 

The Commission on Aging shall consist of nine (9) members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Common Council. At least six (6) of the members shall be sixty (60) years of age or older. One member shall be an older adult experienced representative from Eras Senior Network, and two (2) members shall be representatives of the general public. No more than two (2) members may be elected to any office. The members of the Commission shall serve without compensation. The Mayor shall designate one of the members as chairperson. The initial appointments to establish the Commission shall be three (3) members for one (1) year, three (3) members for two (2) years, and three (3) members for three (3) years. Thereafter, the appointments shall be for terms of three (3) years.

 

Part 2.                     Inconsistent Law Repealed

 

All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

Part 3.                     Severability

 

The provisions of this ordinance are severable.  If any provision of this ordinance is invalid, or if the application of this ordinance to any person or circumstance is invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application.

 

Part 4.                     Effective Date

 

This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
