Body

WHEREAS, from a historical perspective, when Aurora West Allis Medical Center (AWAMC) was organized in the late 1950’s, the main goal in the construction of our community hospital was to provide a primary health care facility for West Allis, followed by a full service Emergency Room to service immediate health care needs.  Both goals have been strongly met; and

WHEREAS, the advocacy space will create space to provide services to survivors of rape, incest, sexual abuse, and sexual violence and domestic abuse at the AWAMC campus (see attached Call to Action); and

WHEREAS, the Aurora West Allis Medical Center Board of Directors and the Foundation Development Coordinator have requested a $25,000 donation; and

WHEREAS, the Aurora West Allis Medical Center has a tremendous economic impact within the City of West Allis.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that $25,000 is hereby approved from the Community & Economic Development Investment Fund, aka the FIRE Whitnall Summit Fund, to create space and access to advocacy care and services at the Aurora West Allis Medical Center.
