Title

Resolution to implement an Outdoor Fitness Court at Veterans Park located at 70th and National Avenue.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis has submitted a Grant Application to National Fitness Campaign for the construction of an outdoor Fitness Court®, which is free for public use; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis will accept a $30,000 National Grant from National Fitness Campaign to promote and implement an outdoor Fitness Court®; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis will secure additional funding, which will be available and committed to this program, including a $20,000 donation previously received from the Aurora West Allis Medical Center Service Club, and $140,617 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding redirected from the Kopperud Park project to Veterans (Vets) Park, in order to construct and maintain the outdoor Fitness Court®; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis will commit to construction and launch of the outdoor Fitness Court® at Vets Park by the end of the 2019 calendar year; and

 

Whereas that the purchase of the fitness court equipment will be sole source contract because of a grant received towards the purchase through the National Fitness Campaign; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis believes the outdoor Fitness Court® is an important recreation facility to support the health of the community by making “world-class” fitness free at Vets Park, to fund an outdoor bodyweight circuit training Fitness Court®, and to earn local and national recognition as a leader in providing affordable health and wellness.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of West Allis will collaborate with National Fitness Campaign to implement the construction of an outdoor Fitness Court® and make fitness free to community residents and visitors.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $140,617 be allocated from Community Development Block Grant funds for the installation of the Fitness Court.

 

Be it Further resolved, the graphics and signage installation will be installed separately from the purchasing contract and installation of the fitness court.  

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all project costs will be charged to Account No. 353-6013-552.31-01, Capital Projects Fund/Parks, Project Activities.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Engineering or his designee is authorized to sign and execute all necessary documents for the completion of the project.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney be and is hereby authorized to make such

non-substantive changes, modifications, additions, and deletions to and from the various provisions of the agreement, including any and all attachments, exhibits, addendums and amendments, as may be necessary and proper to correct inconsistencies, eliminate ambiguity and otherwise clarify and supplement said provisions to preserve and maintain the general intent thereof, and to prepare and deliver such other and further documents as may be reasonably necessary to complete the transactions contemplated therein.
