Resolution Authorizing Proactive Property Maintenance Inspections

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Building Inspection and Neighborhood Services (BINS) is authorized by the City of West Allis Revised Municipal Code to perform inspections related to property maintenance of any property in the City; and

 

WHEREAS, apart from specially designated areas of the City, BINS traditionally has performed these property maintenance inspections on a reactive basis by waiting for complaints to come to the department from citizens, businesses or elected officials; and

 

WHEREAS, property maintenance of all properties in the City is a critical factor in reducing blight, reducing crime, increasing property values, and providing a more enjoyable community for all residents and visitors; and

 

WHEREAS, improved property maintenance in the City leads directly to the City of West Allis Strategic Goals 1, 2 and 4.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that the Department of Building Inspection and Neighborhood Services is hereby authorized and directed to perform proactive property maintenance inspections in all areas of the City.
