Resolution authorizing the City Engineer to amend an existing contract with Langer Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc. for modifications to the snow retention system on the Police Court Center roof for an amount not to exceed $15,900.00.

WHEREAS, the City has an existing contract with Langer Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc. for Project No. 2014-13 in the amount of $274,347.00 to install a new metal roof at the Police Court Center. The initial work on this roof was completed in 2015; and,
WHEREAS, the City Attorney has ruled that the warranty issued by the roof manufacturer, The Garland Company, Inc., only covers “leaks caused by defective materials” and would not cover any modifications to the snow retention system, and
WHEREAS, the City will need further assistance from Langer Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc. to install additional elements for the snow retention system at the Police Court Center roof to stop snow and ice from sliding off the roof and causing injury or damage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that the proposal dated August 20, 2018 submitted by Langer Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc. for installing modifications to the snow retention system on the Police Court Center roof for an amount not to exceed $15,900.00 be and is hereby accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That funds for this purchase are available in the Buildings & Facilities Capital Projects Fund budget, and the purchase will be charged to Account Number 350-6003-517.31-01, Public Works Project Activities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer be and is hereby authorized to issue a change order on Project 2014-13 with Langer Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc. to install additional elements to the snow retention system at the Police Court Center.
