Resolution Authorizing the Retention of Outside Legal Counsel.

WHEREAS, by Resolution R-2018-0484 the Interim City Attorney was authorized and directed to enter into a retention agreement with Stafford Rosenbaum LLP for the purpose of handling the “dark store” litigation and other municipal legal matters as needed because of vacant Attorney positions; and
WHEREAS, it has come to the Attorney’s Office’s attention that Stafford Rosenbaum LLP cannot handle a certain litigation matter because of a legal conflict of interest involving the opposing party; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney’s Office recommends retaining other outside legal counsel with similar expertise to handle the litigation matters involving a conflict for Stafford Rosenbaum LLP and/or where such matters may be outside Stafford Rosenbaum’s area of practice.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that the Interim City Attorney be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a retention agreement with such other outside legal counsel for the purpose of handling the litigation matters involving a conflict for Stafford Rosenbaum LLP and/or where such matters may be outside Stafford Rosenbaum’s area of practice.
