Resolution authorizing the purchase of six (6) 2019 AWD Ford Utility Interceptor SUVs, from Ewald Automotive Group, and associated ancillary items, such as light bars, sirens, etc. from various vendors, for a sum not to exceed $240,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis Police Department has recently been notified that the final order date for 2019 Ford Utility Interceptor SUV's has been moved up to September 21, 2018 as Ford will offer a new selection of vehicles for the 2020 model year, with only a short window of time where one final order/purchase may be made before an estimated $5,000 increase in cost per vehicle is expected for the 2020 models; and

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis would like to commit to the purchase of vehicles now, for delivery and payment in 2019, part of the 2019 Budget request, in order to obtain six more Ford Utility Interceptor SUV's before the model changeover; and

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Division has reported that it has received cooperative proposals from Ewald Automotive Group through the State of Wisconsin, Contract # 505ENT-M18-2018VEHICS-00, for delivering six (6) 2019 AWD Ford Utility Interceptor SUV's, with a scheduled delivery after January 1, 2019 for the Police Department of the City of West Allis; and

WHEREAS, the funding for this purchase is included in the 2019 Budget request to Council; and

WHEREAS, the Capital Improvement Committee has recommended that staff be allowed to commit to the purchase of these vehicles at this time, in advance of the 2019 City Budget process, so that the 2019 Ford Utility Interceptors can be secured; and

WHEREAS, the Police and Fire Commission approved the purchase of the marked squads and ancillary items at its meeting on August 16, 2018.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that the proposal, dated August 3, 2018, submitted by Ewald Automotive Group for furnishing and delivering six (6) 2019 AWD Ford Utility Intercepto...
