Title

Resolution authorizing City Staff to participate in the West Allis West Milwaukee (WAWM) Heroin/Opiate Task Force.  

 

Body

WHEREAS, the WAWM Heroin/Opiate Task Force exists to improve the quality of life in our community by preventing the harmful consequences of opiate/heroin use; and 

 

WHEREAS, City of West Allis families and residents have not been immune to the devastating effects of heroin and opiate use, and the impacts continue to multiply on a daily basis; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis 2017-2021 Strategic Plan includes the following action items under Strategic Goal #2 “Quality of Life” - Support/Leverage Health Department’s partnerships and Community Health Improvement Plan 2016-2020 across additional City departments, agencies and key groups to focus on health lifestyles, substance abuse and addiction, and Mental Health issues and improve key service supports for the City’s vulnerable populations; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2016-2020 WAWM Community Health Improvement Plan includes collaboration with the WAWM Heroin/Opiate Task Force, and the Mayor, city staff and residents have participated with the task force to assist in accomplishing its mission.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and the Common Council of the City of West Allis that City Staff are authorized to participate in the WAWM Heroin/Opiate Task Force and it activities, and provide additional resources such as facilities for meeting space and design, print and communication collaboration.
