Resolution approving a Rate Change in the 2018 Sanitary Sewer Usage Charge - City Portion.

WHEREAS, Section 1.07(4)(e) of the City of West Allis Revised Municipal Code authorizes the Common Council to revise sanitary sewer user charges, as necessary, to ensure that the system generates adequate revenues to pay the cost of operation and maintenance, including replacement of the Sanitary Sewer Collection System; and
WHEREAS, the most recent rate change in the Sanitary Sewer Usage Charge was completed for the service year of 2014, and rates have remained at the same level since that time, even though expenditures have increased; and
WHEREAS, the 2018 Budget, approved by the Common Council on November 21, 2017, requires an increase in the sanitary sewer user charge to pay the cost of operation and maintenance, including the replacement of the City Sanitary Sewer Collection System.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that there be a 2018 increase in the rates for the sanitary sewer user charge city portion, and is hereby changed to $1.95 per CCF of water used per quarter from $1.75 per CCF of water used per quarter (an increase of $0.20 per CCF), with the minimum quarterly charge increased to $19.50 per quarter from $17.50 per quarter (an increase of $2.00 per quarter), effective for service on and after January 1, 2018.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Finance Director and the Utility Billing Staff of the Water Utility be and are hereby directed to notify each user of the Sanitary Sewer Collection System of the aforesaid rate increase as provided in Section 1.07(4)(f) of the City of West Allis Revised Municipal Code.
