Resolution relative to amending the City of West Allis Policy & Procedure #404, with the amended title, “Recruiting, Hiring, and Reappointment Process for Executive/Managerial/Deputy-Assistant Service Positions,” and repealing City of West Allis Policy and Procedure #1455, Managerial Service (Division Head) Conditions of Employment.

WHEREAS, Policy #404, Recruitment, Selection, Appointment and Confirmation for City Officials and Executive/Managerial/Deputy Service Positions and Policy #1455, Managerial Service (Division Head) Conditions of Employment, were originally included in the City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual in December 2005 and July 1999 respectively; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure continued accountability, leadership and direction in the executive positions of the City; provide opportunity for flexibility in recruiting internal and external candidates outside of the previous civil service process; and allow input and collaboration for succession planning with the managerial/deputy-assistant position appointments; it is necessary to amend Policy #404 at this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Policy #404, Recruiting, Hiring, and Reappointment Process for Executive/Managerial/Deputy-Assistant Service Positions, is approved as presented in the attached restatement including the retitling of the procedure, and Policy #1455, Managerial Service (Division Head) Conditions of Employment is repealed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administrator is authorized and directed to include the amended Policy #404 in the City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual and distribute said policy to all departments, divisions, and offices and remove Policy #1455 from the City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual.
