Resolution authorizing and directing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to approve a change order to an existing contract with Payne & Dolan, Inc. for the resurfacing of W. Lincoln Avenue to provide electrical system upgrades and repairs at the intersection with S. 60th Street for a total sum not to exceed $49,500.00.

WHEREAS, The Common Council adopted Resolution R-2017-0175 on June 20, 2017 approving the bid of Payne & Dolan, Inc. for the installation of concrete curb and gutter, concrete base, concrete sidewalk, hot mix asphalt pavement, storm sewer relays, water main relays, pavement marking and utility adjustments in W. Lincoln Avenue from Union Pacific Railroad to S. 61st Street in the City of West Allis in the amount of $1,182,100.00, and

WHEREAS, The City will need further assistance from Payne & Dolan, Inc., and their subcontractor Pieperline, to provide electrical work and associated material and equipment to upgrade and repair the traffic signals and street lights at the intersection with S. 60th Street, and

WHEREAS, These electrical services had been anticipated to be performed by city staff in the Electrical Division, but due to their current staffing levels they are unable to address these needs at this time, and

WHEREAS, Pieperline has submitted two proposals to perform this work which include $13,300.00 to just make repairs, or $49,500.00 to upgrade the traffic signals and street lights and consisting of the following activities:
? Provide, install, maintain, and remove temporary signals
? Replace all existing underground signal wiring
? Replace existing pull boxes
? Replace conduit on the corners (under road conduits to remain)
? Terminate signal cabling and turn on signals when done

WHEREAS, the Common Council deems it to be in the best interests of the City of West Allis that the proposal of Pieperline for $49,500.00 be accepted to upgrade the traffic signals and street lights now while the area is still under...
