Ordinance to Extend the Parking Restrictions on the North Side of the 8400 to 9100 Blocks of W. Greenfield Avenue Due to Delays in the Completion of the Zoo Interchange Work.

Body
WHEREAS, on August 5th, 2014, the Common Council established parking restrictions on the north side of the 8400 to 9100 blocks of W. Greenfield Avenue, and

WHEREAS, on March 11, 2014 the Wisconsin Department of Transportation originally requested the temporary restriction of parking along the north side of Greenfield Avenue from S. 84th Street to S. 92nd Street. The proposed extension of the restriction would occur from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Mondays through Fridays from October 1, 2014 until the new expiration date of June 28, 2018 due to the delays in completion of the Zoo Interchange work, and

WHEREAS, this request is in conjunction with proposed improvements along Greenfield Avenue as part of the Zoo Interchange Project's local street traffic management plan. To maintain safe and efficient traffic flow along Greenfield Avenue, the Zoo team proposes improving the traffic signals at 84th Street and 92nd Street, upgrading the school crossing at 87th Street, and adding pavement marking to create an additional temporary westbound through lane from 84th Street to 92nd Street, and

WHEREAS, once the Zoo Interchange and freeway construction is complete, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will mill and overlay the entire pavement on Greenfield Avenue from 84th Street to 92nd Street, including parking lanes, new pavement markings and a proposed bike lane, and

WHEREAS, all of this work will be funded as part of the Zoo Interchange Project at no cost to the City of West Allis.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Common Council of the City of West Allis do ordain as follows:

PART I. Pursuant to Section 10.10 of the Revised Municipal Code, the following parking restriction is established:
