Title

Resolution to Authorize and Direct the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to enter into an agreement with Wastebuilt to furnish and install a refurbished electric powered recycling compactor at the City Yard in an amount not to exceed $30,000.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis has changed its recycling program which will significantly increase the amount of material processed; and,

 

WHEREAS, the existing compactor is an obsolete gas unit which has experienced maintenance and reliability issues in the past; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Fleet Division received an offer to purchase a refurbished electric powered recycling compactor which will work better in cold weather and will be able to handle the anticipated increase recycling tonnage; and

 

WHEREAS, while this specific piece of equipment was not included in the 2017 Budget, there are monies available in the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund to fund this needed equipment.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis as follows:

 

1.                     That the Director of Public Works is authorized and directed to purchase the unit from Wastebuilt.

 

2.                     That the Director of Public Works/City Engineer is authorized to install appropriate electrical service for the compactor and perform other miscellaneous work as may be needed

 

3.                     That the Finance Department is authorized and directed to fund the project through the Solid Waste and Recycling Utility, using Account 550-4233-535.70-03, Capital Items/Equipment.

 

4.                     That the Purchasing Department is authorized and directed to issue the appropriate purchase orders that may be needed for installation of the compactor.
