A Resolution to create City of West Allis Policies and Procedures Manual Policy No. 1451 “Use of Polygraphs or Other Honesty Testing Devices”.

WHEREAS, the use of honesty testing devices in employment is prohibited by Wisconsin State Law, except in various exceptions; and
WHEREAS, the use of such devices creates potential liabilities and the benefits do not outweigh the negatives from a Risk Management perspective; and
WHEREAS, Policy No. 1451 restricts the use of honest testing devices in employment; and
WHEREAS the Risk Management Team of the City consisting of the City Attorney, City Administrator and Safety and Training Coordinator, have viewed such policy and agreed that its inclusion into the Policy and Procedure Manual is in the best interest of the City of West Allis; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that Policy No. 1451, Use of Polygraphs or Other Honesty Testing Devices, be added to the City of West Allis Policies and Procedures Manual.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Policy No. 1451, Use of Polygraphs or Other Honesty Testing Devices, be added to the City of West Allis Policies and Procedures Manual.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administrator will notify all departments, divisions and offices of said insertion.
