Resolution relative to adopting an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Operations Policy for inclusion in the City of West Allis Policies and Procedures Manual.
Body
WHEREAS, because of the growing use of unmanned aircraft systems and the City’s strategic goal of Image/Brand/Destination that directly aligns with the 2017-2021 Strategic Plan, it is necessary and important that a policy be in place that addresses the general standards and responsibilities for the acceptable use of a UAS; and
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis has a developed a policy to address the use, eligibility, scheduling, guidelines, criteria of flight and filming parameters for a UAS including retention of video and/or photographic images; and
WHEREAS, said policy shall apply to the Common Council and Mayor and to all City of West Allis departments, city employees, boards, commissions, and the general public; and
WHEREAS, it is beneficial for said policy to be included in the City’s Policies and Procedures Manual; and
WHEREAS, various City staff members have reviewed said policy, as attached hereto, and recommend its approval.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the attached Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Operations Policy be and is hereby approved for inclusion in the City’s Policies and Procedures Manual.
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED that the City Administrative Office is authorized and directed to include such policy in the City’s Policies and Procedures Manual and distribute said policy to all departments, divisions, and offices.
