Resolution relative to determination of Special Use Permit for Light of Grace Annex, a proposed religious institution, to be located at 5900 W. National Ave.

WHEREAS, Rev. Kris A. Nelsen, d/b/a Light of Grace, duly filed with the City Clerk an application for a Special Use Permit, pursuant to Sec. 12.42(2) and Sec. 12.16 of the Revised Municipal Code, to establish a church/religious institution within the existing commercial building located at 5900 W. National Ave.; and,

WHEREAS, after due notice, a public hearing was held by the Common Council on October 18, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., in the Common Council Chamber to consider the application; and,

WHEREAS, the Common Council, having carefully considered the evidence presented at the public hearing and the following pertinent facts noted:

1. The applicant, Rev. Kris A. Nelsen, d/b/a Light of Grace, has a valid offer to lease the property and has offices at 5806 W. National Ave., West Allis, WI 53214. The property is owned by St. Ann's Interdenominational Church Inc. Light of Grace, Thomas A. Sherbrook, Agent.

All the land of the owner being located in the Southwest 1/4 of Section 35, Township 7 North, Range 21 East, City of West Allis, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, described as follows:

Lot 9 in Block 5 in the Brady's Subdivision and 10.00 feet wide easement adjacent to the East side of said Lot 9.

2. The applicant, Rev. Kris A. Nelsen, d/b/a Light of Grace is proposing to establish a church/religious use within an approximate 2,000 sq. ft. space at 5900 W. National Ave. The commercial building is located on the north side of W. National Ave.

3. The aforesaid premise is zoned C-3/Community Commercial District in which religious institutions are permitted as Special Uses, pursuant to Sec. 12.42(2) and Sec. 12.16 of the Revised Municipal Code.
