Resolution authorizing $25,000 from the Community & Economic Development Investment Fund for the renovation of the Hospice Care Area at Aurora West Allis Medical Center.

WHEREAS, from a historical perspective, when Aurora West Allis Medical Center (AWAMC) was organized in the late 1950’s, the main goal in the construction of our community hospital was to provide a primary health care facility for West Allis, followed by a full service Emergency Room to service immediate health care needs. Both goals have been strongly met.
WHEREAS,
This Economic Development Renovation Project at AWAMC will continue to maximize the ongoing availability of quality hospice service for West Allis, and,
WHEREAS, the hospice care room would benefit every family that experiences end of life care at Aurora West Allis Medical Center; and,
WHEREAS, the new hospice room will be uniquely designed to provide comfort, privacy, and respect for the patient in their final days and hours; and,
WHEREAS, many times when transferring a patient to another location during this very difficult time can become very challenging to the patient and family members; and,
WHEREAS, the Aurora West Allis Medical Center Board of Directors and the Foundation Development Coordinator have requested a $25,000 donation; and,
WHEREAS, the Aurora West Allis Hospital has a tremendous economic impact within the city of West Allis.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that $25,000 is hereby approved from the Community & Economic Development Investment Fund, aka the FIRE Whitnall Summit Fund for the renovation of the Hospice Care Area at Aurora West Allis Medical Center.
