Resolution relative to amending the City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual No. 1483, Voluntary Benefit Programs, under Human Resources.

WHEREAS, Policy No. 1483, Voluntary Benefit Programs, was originally included in the City of West Allis Policies & Procedures Manual on December 18, 2012; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend said policy at this time as a result of changes to the City’s health insurance plan offerings for 2016-2017, which include a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) offering; and
WHEREAS, the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) offering allows eligible participants to establish a Health Savings Account (HSA); and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Council have previously endorsed a City contribution to eligible employee and retiree HSAs for the 2016-2017 plan year; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend Policy No. 1483, Voluntary Benefit Programs, to incorporate the general policies dealing with the Health Savings Accounts, along with other “housekeeping” revisions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Policy No. 1483, Voluntary Benefit Programs, is approved as presented in the attached restatement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administrator is authorized and directed to include the amended Policy No. 1483 in the City’s Policies & Procedures manual and distribute said policy to all departments, divisions, and offices.
