Communication from the Director of Public Works/City Engineer on proposal from the Rainbow Gardens Neighborhood Association to paint curbs adjacent to fire hydrants.

Aldermen Gary Barczak and Michael May recently attended the annual meeting of the Rainbow Gardens Neighborhood Association.  It was suggested during the meeting that a good neighborhood project would be to paint the curbs yellow 10 feet on either side of all fire hydrants.  Public Works would provide the pavement paint (I would estimate less than $100).

Alderman May also suggested stenciling/painting something saying "Don't Dump.  Drains to Lake" at catch basins. The intent would be to remind people that dumping oil and other liquids down any catch basin flows into area rivers and eventually gets to Lake Michigan.
