Resolution authorizing up to $5,000 from the Community & Economic Development Investment Fund for the procurement of a logo to be placed on the retaining wall to be constructed at 894 & Greenfield Avenue in 2015.

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation recognizes that transportation decisions can negatively impact the state's natural and built environments, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) continues to identify opportunities that will emphasize and preserve community character and aesthetics.  WisDOT's efforts will focus on designing and building transportation facilities within the context of the natural surroundings and community character; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) features proposed as part of the Zoo Interchange Project along Greenfield Ave (STH 59) at the new berm constructed between the I-894 NB off-ramp and 98th St. including a decorative retaining wall, City emblems, trees, shrubs, perennials, up lighting installed by the City, and traffic signal cabinet artwork; and,
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will construct and install the decorative retaining wall, trees, shrubs and perennials at no cost to the City; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis Department of Public Works needs to provide a City emblem at City expense; and,
 
WHEREAS, at a later date, the Common Council will approve a specific emblem.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that up to $5,000 is hereby approved from the Community & Economic Development Investment Fund, aka the FIRE Whitnall Summit Fund.
