Title
Resolution relative to accepting the proposal of CalAmp for furnishing and delivering GPS equipment for the monitoring and tracking of city vehicles for a total net sum of $35,712.00.
 
Body
WHEREAS, The Purchasing Division has reported that it duly advertised a request for proposal for furnishing an Automatic Vehicle Location Service to the Public Works Department of the City of West Allis, that the proposals received as shown on the attached bid report were reasonable; and,
 
WHEREAS, The Departments of Information Technology and Communications and Public Works evaluated the bids received and selected CalAmp to provide the City with GPS Automatic Vehicle Location Service for City owned vehicles; and,
 
WHEREAS, The GPS software will track vehicle location, speed, engine diagnostics and report on the statuses of snow plow blades and salt spreader on each vehicle; and,
 
WHEREAS, GPS tracking devices will be installed on fifty-eight (58) Department of Public Works vehicles to start.  This includes all vehicles used during a snow plowing event; and,
 
WHEREAS, Information Technology and Communications and Public Works have successfully tested the solution on two (2) Public Works vehicles; and,
 
WHEREAS, The GPS hardware for the 58 vehicles is $20,400 and the software and communications cost is $15,312 annually.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that the proposal dated July 11, 2014, submitted by CalAmp for providing Automatic Vehicle Location Services for the total sum of $35,712.00 in accordance with City of West Allis RFP 1245 be and is hereby accepted.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Department of Information Technology and Communications be and is hereby authorized to enter into a contract for the aforesaid services.
