Title
Resolution authorizing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with other Milwaukee Water Works wholesale customers for the purpose of paying the City's share of fees associated with the cooperative hiring of Short Elliott Hendrickson and other appropriate firms/consultants to advance joint concerns and protect common interests with regard to Milwaukee Water Works application to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to increase wholesale water rates.
Body
WHEREAS, Milwaukee Water Works has applied to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to increase its water rates; and,
 
WHEREAS, this water rate increase request will have a significant effect on the City of West Allis and other wholesale customers of Milwaukee Water Works; and,
 
WHEREAS, by participating in a cooperative agreement with other wholesale communities, as was done in 2010-2011 during the last water rate increase, all parties can advance their concerns and protect their collective interests in a cohesive, cost effective and coordinated manner; and,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that a Memorandum of Understanding, similar to the one entered into during the last water rate increase, for the purpose of paying the City's share of fees associated with the cooperative hiring of Short Elliott Hendrickson and other appropriate firms/consultants is in the best interests of the City of West Allis.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer is hereby authorized to execute the Memorandum of Understanding and to participate on behalf of the City in the rate increase proceedings with the Wisconsin Public Service Commission with funding provided from the appropriate Water Utility account.
