Resolution approving an increase in the sanitary sewer user charge - MMSD portion.

WHEREAS, Section 1.07(4)(e) authorizes the Common Council to revise sanitary sewer user charges, as necessary, to insure that the system generates adequate revenues to pay the cost of operation and maintenance, including replacement of the Sanitary Sewer Collection System; and,
WHEREAS, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) charges the City of West Allis for the use of its sanitary sewer collection system and treatment facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis passes on these charges from MMSD, including the annual Household Hazardous Waste Charge, directly to all users of the sanitary sewer collection system; and
WHEREAS, MMSD has increased its charges to the City of West Allis for 2003.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the MMSD portion of the sanitary sewer user charge be and is hereby increased by thirty-two cents from $17.39 to $17.71 per quarter for single-family residential properties; increased by fifty-three cents from $30.31 to $30.84 per quarter for duplexes; and increased from $0.65 per ccf to $0.67 per ccf, plus a $4.58 connection fee per quarter, increased from $4.47 per quarter, for commercial properties in accordance with the higher MMSD rates; said decrease to be effective January 1, 2003.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Finance Manager in place January 1, 2003 be and is hereby directed to notify each user of the Sanitary Sewer Collection System of the aforesaid rate decrease as provided in Section 1.07(4)(f) of the Revised Municipal Code.
