Title
Resolution authorizing the purchase of a Fire Department station alerting system for a total sum not to exceed $180,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the West Allis Fire Department uses a station alerting system for communicating between the West Allis Police Dispatch Center and the three fire stations; and

WHEREAS, the West Allis Fire Department (WAFD), in order to meet standards set forth by the National Fire Protection Agency, is in need of replacing the existing station alerting system; and

WHEREAS, the purchase of this station alerting system is identified in the 2017 Adopted Budget, with funds for the project reserved in the capital projects fund; and

WHEREAS, the project involves three purchasing components:
1) The "core" system, designed by U.S. Digital Designs, at a quoted price of $144,911.19;
2) Ancillary equipment, provided by Emergency Lighting & Electronics, LLC, at a quoted price of $19,131.84;
3) A computer interface software program, designed to allow the station alerting system to function with the existing computer aided dispatch software program utilized by the West Allis Fire Department, provided by ProPhoenix Corporation, at a price of $6,800.00; and

WHEREAS, the project involves extensive IT related work in four city owned buildings of various ages, to accommodate any unforeseen issues, and an additional $9,156.97 shall be allocated to cover costs not identified above; and

WHEREAS, the WAFD has utilized a pre-bid municipal purchasing consortium, National Purchasing Partners (NPPGov), to negotiate favorable terms and pricing to ensure that both the City of West Allis and the WAFD are receiving the best possible competitive pricing in accordance with public purchasing requirements; and

WHEREAS, the Police and Fire Commission approved the purchase of the fire station alerting system on June 15, 2017; and

WHEREAS, the project will commence after approval and is expected to be completed within approximately 90 days.
