Resolution Authorizing and Directing the Installation of a Pedestrian Crossing at S. 88th Street & W. Eckel Lane.

Body

WHEREAS, the Safety and Development Committee received a petition asking that a 3-way stop be installed at the intersection of S. 88th Street & W. Arthur Avenue; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Safety and Development Committee directed the Engineering Department to conduct a traffic study of S. 88th Street from W. Cleveland Ave. to W. Lincoln Ave. to determine if a 3-way stop was warranted; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Engineering Department reported back to the Safety and Development Committee that a 3-way stop was not warranted under the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Engineering Department also recommended that a requested Blind Child sign be denied since it is not recognized by the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices along with other related safety issues; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Engineering Department recommended that a pedestrian crossing be installed at S. 88th Street and W. Eckel Lane that would include proper pavement marking and signage; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the City Engineer be and is hereby authorized and directed to install a pedestrian crossing at S. 88th Street and W. Eckel Lane.
