Resolution authorizing Department Heads to reduce insurance requirements when it is determined to be in the best interest of the City.

Body

WHEREAS, the City recently reduced the usual insurance requirements for the Gateway project contractor due to the amount of the contract and the unique circumstances of the work; and,

 

WHEREAS, during the discussion of reducing the usual insurance requirements for that contract, it was suggested that another resolution be introduced to apply to other contracts where it would be in the City's best interest to reduce the usual insurance requirements; and,

 

WHEREAS, in order to reduce any insurance requirement, the Department Head must make a determination that this action will not expose our taxpayers to excessive risk and will save money; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Department Head must first consult the City Attorney's Office for advise and concurrence in reducing any usual insurance requirements; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Department Heads are authorized to reduce the usual insurance requirements where appropriate and inform the appropriate Board and/or Committee about the change prior to award of the contract.
