Resolution of Commendation for Terry Brandenburg.

Body
WHEREAS, Terry Brandenburg, City Health Commissioner, retired from the City of West Allis on August 31, 2011 after more than 34 years of public service; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Brandenburg has the longest tenure as a Health Commissioner for the City of West Allis, serving the City in that capacity since February 1, 1988; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Brandenburg organized and led comprehensive community health assessments and the development of community health improvement plans as an approach to enhance and improve the health of West Allis citizens; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Brandenburg provided a leadership role in the creation of the West Allis-West Milwaukee Community Alliance Against Drugs and the West Allis-West Milwaukee Early Childhood Task Force; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Brandenburg provided leadership and directed responses to public health emergencies, including the Cryptosporidium outbreak in 1993 and the pandemic influenza outbreak in 2009; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Brandenburg is a recognized leader in public health having received the Community Alliance Against Drug's Distinguished Service Award; the Wisconsin Public Health Association's Distinguished Service to Public Health Award; and the Wisconsin Environmental Health Association's Environmental Health Professional of the Year Award.

WHEREAS, Mr. Brandenburg is deserving of special commendation for his many contributions to his profession and to making West Allis a better place to live and work.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Terry Brandenburg, City Health Commissioner, be and is hereby specially commended for his dedication and service to the citizens of West Allis and congratulates him for a job well done.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Common Council hereby extends to Terry Brandenburg its best wishes for a successful and rewarding career as the Director of the Masters of Public Health prog...
