Resolution Authorizing and Directing the Mayor to Submit a Letter to the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Agreeing to Conditions for Sewer Service for the Six Points Development Area.

WHEREAS, West Allis is currently developing the Six Points Area, which is in Sewer Basin WE-20 and WE-23; and,
WHEREAS, when the 2010 MMSD Facilities Plan was being developed and approved, the City did not anticipate a significant development like the Six Points Area and therefore, did not request additional flow capacity from MMSD; and,
WHEREAS, MMSD has proposed an interim procedure that would only apply to the Six Points development and would accommodate the anticipated 626 apartment and condominium units and 47,000 square feet of commercial development; and,
WHEREAS, this interim procedure is outlined in letters from Kevin Shafer, Executive Director for MMSD, to Mayor Bell and from Michael Martin, Director of Technical Services for MMSD, to the City Engineer and will require the City to undertake I/I reduction work, perform monitoring, demonstrate that the peak flow allocation published in the 2010 Facilities Plan is not exceeded and demonstrate that it maintains the reduction in peak flow; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the Mayor, along with other appropriate City Officials, be and is hereby authorized and directed to submit to the District the City's agreement to the conditions set forth in the interim procedure and a schedule under which it will perform the I/I reduction work, perform the monitoring and perform the analysis of the monitoring data and any other related work.
