Title

Resolution approving an agreement with MMSD to receive $268,489.83 in funding through the MMSD Strategic Green Infrastructure Program for the installation of Green Infrastructure in the intersection of S. 62nd St. and W. Lapham St.

Body

WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statues Section 66.0301 authorizes any municipality to enter into an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement with another municipality for the furnishing of services; and,

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis recognizes the importance of the use of Green Infrastructure for managing storm water in a sustainable manner; and,

WHEREAS, in this action the City has declared its intent to work with MMSD on this Green Infrastructure project to install bioswales to capture and retain stormwater as part of the reconstruction of the intersection and,

WHEREAS, the MMSD will provide funding not to exceed $268,489.83 for the installation of the bioswales through their Strategic Green Infrastructure Program; and,

WHEREAS, the City will maintain records documenting all expenditures made during the green infrastructure installation at the following location:

Intersection of South 62nd Street and West Lapham Street

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the City Engineer be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a Green Infrastructure Funding Agreement with the MMSD for the installation of Green Infrastructure in the proposed reconstruction of the intersection of South 62nd Street and West Lapham Street, a copy of the Green Infrastructure Funding Agreement is attached hereto and by reference made a part hereof.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the total eligible estimated project cost is $344,307.02 of which $268,489.83 is the MMSD share and the remaining $75,817.19 is the local municipal share. The local municipal share was budgeted in 2024. It is understood that West Allis will perform the work in compliance with the funding requirements.
