Title
Resolution authorizing and directing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to enter into a State/Municipal Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for $399,360 in funding awarded from the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) to procure a bike share system with approximately 9 stations and 90 bikes.

Body
WHEREAS, a bike share system will allow an alternative to motor vehicles for short distance trips within the City; and

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis Development Department applied for $399,360 in Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funds and the Wisconsin Department Of Transportation has notified the City that this project has been selected for inclusion in the Transportation Alternatives Program; and,

WHEREAS, Bublr Bikes has already been launched in the City of Milwaukee under the management of Midwest BikeShare Inc., a Milwaukee-based not-for-profit organization; and

WHEREAS, the Midwest BikeShare team plans to launch at least 100 stations in Milwaukee and surrounding suburbs in the coming years; and

WHEREAS, the City of Wauwatosa and Village of Shorewood have also been selected for inclusion in the Transportation Alternatives Program for their planned bike share projects.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West
Allis that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for this Project (State ID 2995-01-06/76), a copy of the State/Municipal Agreement is attached hereto and by reference made a part hereof.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the total estimated project cost is $499,200 of which up to $399,360 has now been approved for funding by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (80% federal/state share with the remaining 20% local share to be funded by Community Improvement Foundation Funds.
