Resolution authorizing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to amend an existing agreement with Ring & Duchateau for engineering services related to replacing and upgrading the emergency generator system at City Hall in an amount not to exceed $25,000.

Whereas, the emergency generator system is not adequate for protecting City's computer system or providing emergency electrical power for the building itself in the event of an electrical power outage; and,
Whereas, if the City's computer system fails, the health and safety of our citizens are directly affected because of the City's inability to provide necessary services; and,
Whereas, Ring & Duchateau has provided engineering services to the City on a number of projects; and,
Whereas, time is of the essence because of the potential problems with the main computer system going down and the long time it takes to get it back up running again; and,
Whereas, the Common Council deems it to be in the best interests of the City of West Allis to accept the engineering services proposal from Ring & Duchateau in order to prevent an emergency condition at City Hall and enter into an agreement for engineering design services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that up to $25,000 is hereby approved for both projects to be funded through the appropriate City accounts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer be and is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement for engineering services with Ring & Duchateau and the Purchasing Department is authorized to issue the purchase order.
