Resolution requesting the transfer of $5,000 from the City's Contingency Fund to Police Department Crime Prevention Part Time/OT Account.

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis always maintains a Contingency Reserve to cover the cost of unanticipated expenditures (Account No. 100-0000-371-2000); and
 
WHEREAS, the amount in the Contingency Reserve as of January 1, 2015 is $3.2 million; and
 
WHEREAS, the West Allis Police Department (WAPD) has been asked to perform background investigations for five firefighter candidates, and current WAPD staff is unable to accommodate this request with current investigative staff and wants to use provision employees to handle this task; and
 
WHEREAS, WAPD has performed background checks for Fire and other City personnel and unsuccessfully attempted to absorb those unbudgeted costs; and
 
WHEREAS, WAPD is requesting additional monies from the Contingency Fund to provide funding to the Police Department Crime Prevention Part Time/OT Account No. 100-2106-521-1201 to cover the cost of background investigations.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that $5,000 is hereby approved for transfer from the City's Contingency Fund to the Police Department Crime Prevention Part Time/OT Account.
