A Resolution to Amend the City’s Policies & Procedures Manual No. 2611 Relating to Street Repair.

WHEREAS, Policy No. 2611 sets forth rules and procedures for street repair; and,
WHEREAS, current policy requires the City to repair potholes when streets are sufficiently deteriorated and installing temporary steel plates when severe breaks in the pavement exist; and
WHEREAS, the policy sets forth duties that are not required by statute or law and may not be appropriate in every circumstance; and
WHEREAS, the change in policy to make the duties discretionary will not have an adverse impact upon the City and will lessen the City’s liability for claims concerning snow plow damage; and
WHEREAS, removing the mandatory requirements of this policy will allow the training and experience and knowledge of the Engineering Department and Department of Public Works to better address street repair within the budgetary constraints that the City faces.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the amendments to Policy No. 2611 as attached hereto are hereby approved and adopted.
