Resolution approving contracting with CableCom LLC to provide and install single-mode fiber optic cable for an amount not to exceed $25,000.
Body
WHEREAS, The Information Technology and Public Work's Electrical Division needs to replace the city's outdated multi-mode fiber optic cable used between city buildings with single-mode fiber; and,
WHEREAS, This fiber optic cable is used for all data, phone, video and other communications within the city buildings; and,
WHEREAS, The multi-mode fiber is running at 103% capacity which is degrading the quality of the phone calls and computer network with the city; and,
WHEREAS, Single-mode fiber is the industry standard and will allow from 10x to 400x the capacity of our multi-mode fiber and will provide enough capacity well into the future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that an amount not to exceed $25,000 be and is hereby approved to be funded through appropriate Public Works accounts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all work will be performed by CableCom LLC all in accordance with State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation Contract 406645.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Purchasing/Central Services Division be and is hereby authorized to enter into a contract for the aforesaid material and services.
