Resolution relative to the transfer of $5,700 from the Contingency Fund to the Public Works Forestry Materials Account for the purchase of trees to be used in the 2008 spring tree planting program.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis Tree Planting Program has been cut in half over the last several years, resulting in an annual tree replacement program for missing trees of every two years rather than every year; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Forestry Division occasionally removes trees for driveway approaches; and,
WHEREAS, this tree removal eliminates a valuable asset in the community; and,
WHEREAS, the City receives funds for said removal; and,
WHEREAS, these unbudgeted funds are placed in the City's General Fund; and,
WHEREAS, the funds received should replace the assets removed; and,
WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $5,700 were received this summer for removal of a tree in the 1000 block of S. 97th Street; and,
WHEREAS, the $5,700 would allow the purchase of 100 more trees for the 2008 Spring Tree Planting Program in the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that $5,700 is hereby authorized to be transferred from the City's Contingency Fund to the Public Works Forestry Materials Account for the 2008 Spring Tree Planting Program.
