Resolution adopting the National Avenue Corridor Strategic Plan.
Body
WHEREAS, interested business and property owners and elected officials recognized the National Avenue Corridor was an area in need of a vision to grow; and,
WHEREAS, a Communication from John F. Stibal, Director of the Department of Development, to the Mayor and Common Council was placed on the December 2, 2014 Common Council Agenda, indicating the need for this study, what it would encompass, and indicating that funding from First-Ring Industrial Redevelopment Enterprise Inc. (“FIRE”) could be used to fund the $168,862 study; and,
WHERAS, FIRE approved the funding of a National Avenue Corridor Strategic Plan (the “Plan”) by Resolution #516 adopted December 4, 2014; and,
WHEREAS, the study area for the Plan was determined to be S. 68 St. - S. 95 St. and the surrounding neighborhoods and S. 81 St. from W. National Ave. to W. Greenfield Ave.; and,
WHEREAS, the City’s goal for the plan was to create a document which looks at everything from the future design of the right of way, to the reasons for investment and disinvestment in the area, and which identifies a coordinated approach to spur future development in the area; and,
WHEREAS, the planning process was open to the public and numerous efforts were made to assure the broadest participation, to establish the goals and elements considered for and contained within the plan; and,
WHEREAS, staff prepared a summary of the Plan which is attached as Exhibit A.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West Allis that the National Avenue Corridor Strategic Plan be adopted and direct all appropriate staff to begin its implementation.
