A Resolution providing for the nomination of candidates for Aldermanic District 5 of the City of West Allis Common Council at the 2016 Spring Primary.
Body
WHEREAS, two alderperson positions for Aldermanic District 5 on the City of West Allis Common Council are to be filled at the Spring Election to be held on April 5, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the deadline for filing nomination papers for the 2016 Spring Election is 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2016; and
WHEREAS, five candidates have filed nomination papers; and
WHEREAS, under s. 8.11(1)(a),(c) of the Wisconsin Statutes, the City of West Allis may, no later than 3 days after the deadline for filing nomination papers, provide for nomination of candidates for city offices at the Spring Primary; and
WHEREAS, under state law the 2016 Spring Primary would be held on February 16, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council finds that it would be in the public interest of the City to hold a Spring Primary for the nomination of candidates for the two alderperson positions of Aldermanic District 5 of the Common Council for the Spring Election to be held on April 5, 2016.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that there shall be a Spring Primary to be held on February 16, 2016 for the nomination of candidates for Aldermanic District 5 of the Common Council for the Spring Election to be held on April 5, 2016; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is authorized and directed to take all steps necessary to hold the Spring Primary on February 16, 2016 as provided by state statutes for the nomination of candidates for the two alderperson positions of Aldermanic District 5 of the Common Council for the Spring Election to be held on April 5, 2016; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage.
