Resolution relative to determination of Special Use Application submitted by Michael Ropel, d/b/a Rajun Cajun Restaurant, to establish a restaurant at 7335 W. Greenfield Ave. (formerly Bangkok Dokkoon Restaurant)

WHEREAS, Michael Ropel, d/b/a Rajun Cajun Restaurant, duly filed with the City Clerk/Treasurer an application for a special use permit, pursuant to Sec. 12.40(2) and Sec. 12.16 of the Revised Municipal Code, to establish a restaurant with a bar within an existing 3,500 square foot building; and,
WHEREAS, after due notice, a public hearing was held by the Common Council on December 3, 2002, at 7:30 p.m., and in the Common Council Chamber to consider the application; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council, having carefully considered the evidence presented at the public hearing and the following pertinent facts noted:
1. The applicant, Michael Ropel, d/b/a Rajun Cajun Restaurant, resides at 5225-R South 13 Street, Milwaukee, WI 53221.
2. The applicant has a valid offer to lease 7335 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, more particularly described as follows:
Lots 5 and 6, Block 7, Central Improvement Company's Subdivision
No. 1, located in the Northwest 1/4 of Section 3, Township 6 North, Range
21 East, in the City of West Allis, County of Milwaukee, State of Wisconsin.
TAX KEY NO.: 453-0118-000
Said property is located at 7335 W. Greenfield Ave.
3. The aforesaid premises is zoned C-1 Central Business District under the Zoning Ordinance of the City of West Allis, which permits restaurants as a special use, pursuant to Sec. 12.40(2) and Sec. 12.16 of the Revised Municipal Code. This property was granted special use approval for a Thai restaurant on September 18, 2001 (Resolution No. 26855). The current applicant is seeking special use approval for expanding/intensifying the restaurant use by adding a bar service.
