Resolution of Commendation for Nicholas F. Lucas, Jr.

Body
WHEREAS, Nicholas F. Lucas, Jr., Municipal Judge, will retire from office effective April 30, 2003, after 51 years of service to the City of West Allis; and,

WHEREAS, during his career, Mr. Lucas has served the citizens of West Allis as elected Justice of the Peace from 1952 to 1967; and as elected Municipal Judge from 1967 to April 30, 2003; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Lucas has the added distinction of being the longest serving Municipal Judge in Southeastern Wisconsin, and his fellow judges model their operations on the excellent example of municipal justice he has administered during his career; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Lucas was born and raised in West Allis, graduated from Roosevelt Grade School, Horace Mann Junior High, Marquette High in 1947, Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1952, and Marquette Law School with a Doctor of Law Degree in 1954; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Lucas served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1949; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Lucas practiced law with his father from 1954 until his father's death in 1989, and he continues his active law practice; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Lucas is a member of St. Augustine Parish in West Allis; and,

WHEREAS, a devoted family man, Mr. Lucas and his late wife Joan raised six children, Charlene, Mary, Katherine, Robert, Nicholas, and Janet, and he is the grandfather of eight grandchildren; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Lucas and his wife Christine look forward to traveling and spending time with their families and grandchildren; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Lucas is deserving of special commendation for his contributions to the community and its citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that Nicholas F. Lucas, Jr. be and is hereby specially commended for his dedication and lifetime service to the citizens of West Allis and congratulated for a job well done.
