Title
Resolution approving a Demonstration Landscaping Grant by and between the City of West Allis and Milwaukee Machine Works, LLC, located at 404 S. 116 St., in an amount not to exceed $30,000 funded through the Community Development Block Grant Program.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis is committed to redeveloping underutilized and blighted sites within the City; and,

WHEREAS, the property located at 404 S. 116 St. is an industrial property, leased by Milwaukee Machine Works in 2000 and the property was purchased by the company in 2009 with the City & State's support of Industrial Revenue Bonds and allocation of state tax credits; and

WHEREAS, the Grant is necessary to eliminate and to prevent the spread of blight as defined in Section 66.1131(3) of Wisconsin Statutes; and,

WHEREAS, Milwaukee Machine Works is interested in expanding with a 30,000 square foot addition estimated at $3 million in value; and,

WHEREAS, Milwaukee Machine Works has interest in a building expansion in the future and adding potentially 20 employees; and,

WHEREAS, the Department of Development staff has indicated to the company over the years that the City was interested in retention and expansion of their business; and,

WHEREAS, Milwaukee Machine Works has requested financial assistance for the costs incurred for landscaping and in order to make the economics of future expansion work while establishing a new standard for the area; and,

WHEREAS, the Department of Development has determined the program is eligible for funding under the Community Development Block Grant guidelines; and,

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to enter into a Landscaping Demonstration Grant Contract which sets forth the obligations of the property owners and the City, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
