Resolution accepting FEMA grant for replacement of communication equipment in the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and providing for the 20% matching funds ($12,960) from the Contingency Fund.
Body
WHEREAS, the West Allis Fire Department has applied for and now been offered a FEMA grant from the agency's Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) program; and,
WHEREAS, the AFG grant for $64,800 provides $51,840 of federal funding (80%) and requires a 20% match in the amount of $12,960; and,
WHEREAS, the grant will replace certain components of the “clear command” communications system that are an integral part of the Department's SCBA; and,
WHEREAS, said 20% match of $12,960 has not been previously appropriated for this purpose; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the city and its Fire Department to implement this improvement now and take advantage of the financial savings realized by the City with the 80% federal funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that acceptance of the grant is hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $12,960 is hereby approved for transfer from the Contingency fund for matching funds for this FEMA grant.
