Resolution authorizing and directing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to enter into State/Municipal Agreements to provide Emergency Vehicle Preemption (EVP) for state-maintained traffic signals located at Greenfield Avenue (STH 59) intersections
Body
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and City of West Allis Department of Public Works are partnering during the Zoo Interchange Reconstruction Project to ensure safer and more efficient travel in the City of West Allis.

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis has requested and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has approved the installation of Emergency Vehicle Preemption (EVP) for state-maintained traffic signals located at the Greenfield Avenue (STH 59) intersections with 124th Street, 116th Street, 101st Street, IH-894 Southbound Ramps and IH-894 Northbound Ramps.

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will provide the EVP detectors with all EVP traffic signal cabinet equipment necessary at these five locations. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be responsible for all material, equipment, labor, training and incidental costs associated with maintaining, operating, modifying or removing the EVP system.

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis has already installed the emitting devices on its Fire Department authorized vehicles that will be compatible with the proposed EVP equipment at these state maintained traffic signals.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into these agreements with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for this project.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works/City Engineer forward a certified copy of this Resolution, together with the executed State/Municipal Agreements, to the office of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and take whatever further action ...
