Resolution approving a rate change in the sanitary sewer user charge-MMSD portion.
 
Body
WHEREAS, Section 1.07(4)(e) authorizes the Common Council to revise sanitary sewer user charges, as necessary, to insure that the system generates adequate revenues to pay the cost of operation and maintenance, including replacement of the Sanitary Sewer Collection System; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) charges the City of West Allis for the use of its sanitary sewer collection system and treatment facilities; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of West Allis passes on these charges from MMSD, including the annual Household Hazardous Waste Charge, directly to all users of the sanitary sewer collection system; and
 
WHEREAS, MMSD has adjusted its charges to the City of West Allis for 2013.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the 2013 MMSD portion of the sanitary sewer user charge be and is hereby changed to $27.87 per quarter from $28.05 for single-family residential properties (a decrease of $0.18 per quarter); changed to $47.18 per quarter from $47.07 for duplexes (an increase of $0.11 per quarter); and changed to $1.22 per hundred cubic feet (ccf) of water used from $1.17 per ccf of water used (an increase of $0.05 per ccf), for commercial properties.  The 2013 commercial connection fee per quarter has decreased to $8.56 from $9.05 in 2012.  In accordance with the changes in MMSD rates; said rate changes to be effective January 1, 2013.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Finance Manager be and is hereby directed to notify each user of the Sanitary Sewer Collection System of the aforesaid rate increase as provided in Section 1.07(4)(f) of the Revised Municipal Code.
