Title

Resolution urging the Wisconsin State Legislature to reinstate the State of Wisconsin’s commitment to the I-94 East-West Economic Corridor Project through enumeration and incremental funding of this reconstruction project in the 2017-2019 State Budget. 

 

Body

WHEREAS, the East-West Corridor provides the route relied upon by businesses, employees, residents and visitors to operate, work, travel and experience the vast venues and products provided within and surrounding the region; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of West Allis is located within I-94 East-West Corridor and its businesses, residents, and visitors are affected by the condition of the corridor; and

 

WHEREAS, transportation improvements and reconstruction projects have a direct, significant economic impact on the City of West Allis and its economic development; and

 

WHEREAS, the funding for the I-94 East-West Economic Corridor Project was removed from the 2017-2019 State Budget; and

 

WHEREAS, failure to enumerate and fund the project in the 2017-2019 State Budget will have a detrimental impact on City of West Allis’ ability to attract and retain businesses, residents and visitors which are vital to its continue success and development efforts.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of West Allis that the State Legislature is hereby requested to enumerate and provide incremental funding for the I-94 East-West Economic Project.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution shall be provided to the City’s two State Senators, three State Representatives, Governor Walker, the Co-Chairs of the State Joint Finance Committee, and the Wisconsin League of Municipalities.
